Streetlights
DTE Energy is responsible for the maintenance of all streetlights and the City of Grosse Pointe Woods has been working with their Community Lighting group to expedite the repair and maintenance of the streetlights in our community. In the event of a streetlight outage, please call the Department of Public Works, Monday-Friday, at 343-2460 with the following information:
- A specific streetlight location (i.e., the nearest cross roads, nearby business, etc.)
- Whether the pole is wooden or metal.
- The streetlight pole number (For metal poles it is located at the base of the streetlight pole. For wood poles it is located approximately eight feet up the pole.)
- Details about the outage (i.e., light off during the night, light turns on and off at night, light stays on during the day, etc.).
Residents may also call DTE directly at 1-800-477-4747 to report an outage or in case of an after-hours emergency.
DTE Energy is also responsible for pruning trees encroaching on their easement. If you have questions regarding tree trimming around electrical wires call them at 1-800-477-4747.
