General Information

The City of Grosse Pointe Woods implemented a new element to the park pass system in an effort to increase safety for residents using Lake Front Park. A digital photo will be linked to every park pass issued beginning January 2018. When your new pass is scanned at the park gate, your photo will pop up on the computer screen, helping to ensure park staff that the pass is, in fact, registered to the person using it. Photos will be taken as residents come to the Community Center to retrieve them. Please refer to the ID requirements on the application.

The current park pass scanning software already includes the photo feature, so there are minimal costs associated with this addition to the park passes. New photos will be taken only every 3 years. Park passes expire on December 31, 2022.

Rules enforced for Park entry

A valid park pass is required for each resident 8 years and up. Any resident not holding a valid park pass is considered a “guest”. Any non-resident guest entering the park must be accompanied by a resident holding a valid park pass. Residents under the age of 18 are allowed one guest daily. Residents 18 years of age and older are allowed two guests daily. Read the back of your park pass for other rules regarding park pass use and replacement.

The park pass scanning system, instituted in 2011, improves security and provides an accurate accounting of the number of people entering the park each day. Residents are not allowed to enter the park using a driver’s license or any other form of identification. When entering the park, it is helpful if the driver of the vehicle has each occupant’s pass in hand when approaching the gate attendant. This keeps the line moving smoothly and quickly.
