Tom Mc Cubbin moved his shop from the Mack-Grand Blvd. area of Detroit in the late 1940's. He was joined by his son, Don. The building stood alone for several years.

The market was a community institution for many years. Suzanne Kent, Member of the GPW Historical Commission, was one of the many local employees. The building is now occupied by the South Beach and TCBY stores.
These popular 1950's neighborhood gathering spots have given way to Little Tony's Lounge in the Woods and Champ's Rotisseri.
The restuarant, with its famous red tile roof, occupied the property where the CVS Pharmacy now stands.
